The Canopy Center, or the Canopy, serves as a civil rights and history cultural center along the corridor of Homer Plessy Way within the proposed development in the Bywarer District. Sitting on the site of the historical marker commemorating the Plessy v. Ferguson Supreme Court case, this serves as an embodied timeline of the district, cataloging the development of the rich culture that exists within the community. The center relocated the historical marker into a dedicated and more prominent space, and serves as the fulcrum for visitors to pivot between what was before and what is now.
